Can Dog Eat Grains?
The debate over whether dogs are carnivores or omnivores seems endless. If you look at their teeth, you would believe they solely eat meat with their sharp canines designed for tearing.
However, dogs can eat grains. A diet including plenty of meat balanced with carbohydrates, vegetables and fibre helps them thrive.
The Problem With Grains
Unfortunately, as dogs have eaten grains for many years, their digestive and immune systems have become used to them and subsequently started rejecting them. Grain allergies are increasingly common and can irritate their skin and digestive system, making traditional dog foods unsuitable.
Why Choose a Grain-Free Diet?
Going grain-free caters to allergies and digestive conditions. Here are just a few of the benefits your dog can enjoy:
Prevent Sensitive Skin
If your dog is obsessively scratching, licking or biting their skin and paws or has red, sore rashes with bumps and lumps, a grain allergy might be affecting their skin. Going grain-free can clear up this sensitivity.
Alleviate Symptoms of Digestive Conditions
Grains can irritate conditions such as Inflammatory Bowel Disease, causing issues like diarrhoea, wind, constipation, and lack of appetite or energy. Removing them from your dog’s food can settle these problems so your pup lives happier.
Support Weight Loss
Grain-heavy diets can hinder your dog’s ability to absorb nutrients from their food, causing sluggishness. By switching to a grain-free diet, they can receive more energy from their meals to keep them active throughout the day.

Measuring Up Against the Competition
Many alternative grain-free recipes add meats like beef, chicken and pork. However, these common protein sources are among the leading food allergies affecting dogs, and they require vast amounts of land, feed and water to farm. We choose sustainable insect protein as it is hypoallergenic and environmentally friendly (producing 1kg of protein emits over 100x less greenhouse gas).
It is also incredibly lean, giving our protein an impressive 39% fat-to-protein ratio that supports your dog’s muscles without additional calories. Plus, we prioritise natural ingredients and even use the wonky veg that supermarkets typically reject to prevent food waste.
